|Prior to moving to the Cape in 2005, Anahita was building, co-managing & teaching a recreational youth dance program at the Andover/North Andover YMCA studio for 7 years. She trained in ballet, jazz & tap throughout her elementary and high school years at various studios (the result of being the daughter of an Army officer). As a teen, she was a member for 3 years of “Robbin’s Rockettes”, a local dance troupe in Largo Florida. At the University of Tampa, where she earned her Bachelor’s in Business Management, she was invited to be a part of the studio performance program & trained for 5 yrs. in classes with the Tampa Ballet Co. in residence there. During her senior year & after graduating, she had the opportunity to be the dance coach for the University of Tampa’s basketball cheer/dance squad, choreographing their half-time shows for two seasons.
Anahita is certified with honors at the bronze level for ballet, tap & jazz through the National Dance Council. She began training in Belly Dance in 1996, & began teaching this dance form in 2002 at the Andover YMCA , The Center for Performing Arts, Methuen, the Harwich Community Center, and now offers instruction at the Configuration Studio, in Harwichport, & at the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School Adult Ed Program. She has also taught classes on the basics of Latin dances; Merengue, Cha-cha, Rhumba, & Salsa.
Anahita has been a soloist and group performer with Troupe Khalele Korepsias since 1998, in the Merrimack Valley under the leadership of Naharin, as well as with the Kharamana troupe on Cape Cod under the leadership of Khadija. She has also performed for various festivals, special event celebrations, and restaurants, and has been featured at The Cape Cod Museum of Art for “An Evening of Bellydance”.
She now has her own troupe Kiz in Nuray (Daughters of Moonlight), which members of are available for performances at a variety of venues including the annual fundraiser In December they sponsor for the Lower Cape Outreach Council, King Wenceslas’Faire.
